FAQ
Where are you located?
We serve the Greater Los Angeles Area, but if you want to expand Friend in Need to other regions, we are always looking for that. If you are interested in opening a branch of Friend in Need elsewhere, contact us and we will help you.

How do you you address the risks of grown men interacting with children and teenagers?
The disabled are at a greater risk of being harmed than they are of harming others. Both minors and disabled adults are vulnerable groups and we need to do all we can to ensure none of our members get hurt, especially not the ones in these categories. We have zero tolerance for bullying, harassment, threats, violence, or any form of abuse. We explain our policies to all new members and we verify all members, both the adults and the youth, to make sure they are not at risk of harming others. It is of utmost importance to us to create an environment where people of all ages and abilities feel safe and that they belong.

What other policies do you have?
We strongly believe in honest communication, for when we do not have honest communication that is when we start having problems.
We aim to create an autism friendly environment based on inputs from autistic people and what they feel comfortable with. For example, we meet at settings that are not crowded and we have a policy against blocking others or standing in their way. Also, we ensure there are no loud noises or strong or foul odors.

No cell phone use, with reasonable exceptions.

Respect others for the things they like but that you don't like, respect others for the things they don't like but you like, don't try to change others because of what you like or don't like.

Don't tell people you want to meet up or do something when you have no intention of doing so. Don't tell someone yes just to be nice. When you have little or no intention of following through you are not being nice at all. Part of honest communication.
Other miscellaneous things.
